Clock Barn in Whitchurch is one of Hampshire’s most popular barn wedding venues. The beautifully restored barn and surrounding countryside create a relaxed atmosphere during the day which naturally turns into a lively evening reception once the music begins.

Having DJ’d hundreds of weddings at Clock Barn over the years, I know the venue extremely well and understand how to make the evening reception flow naturally within the space. Once the dancing starts, the barn quickly fills with guests and the atmosphere builds throughout the evening.

The evening reception at Clock Barn

Clock Barn weddings typically produce a fantastic party atmosphere. Guests of all ages gather in the barn once the evening reception begins, and the combination of classic party favourites, sing-along tracks and modern hits helps keep the dance floor busy throughout the night.

The barn is divided into two distinct areas, with a dedicated space for dancing at one end. This works beautifully for an evening celebration, giving the dance floor its own focus while keeping the rest of the space relaxed for guests to chat and enjoy the atmosphere. With the right music and energy in the room, the dance floor quickly fills and stays lively from the first dance through to the final song.

Outside the barn, the surrounding grounds are beautifully maintained and there is plenty of outdoor seating for guests who want to step outside for some fresh air while the party continues inside.

DJ setup at Clock Barn

The ideal DJ setup position at Clock Barn is in the alcove next to the snug, facing across the dance floor area of the barn. This position keeps the DJ connected to the dance floor while allowing guests to move easily between the bar, seating areas and the dancing.

The layout works particularly well for evening receptions, with the dedicated dance floor area creating a natural focal point while the rest of the barn remains relaxed for guests to chat and enjoy the atmosphere.

Sound and lighting

Clock Barn provides its own PA system for ceremonies, background music and speeches earlier in the day. Many couples choose to book me for the full day so I can provide music for the ceremony, manage the drinks reception and wedding breakfast music, and then continue into the evening reception.

There isn’t a fixed sound limiter at Clock Barn, but the venue team monitor the music levels throughout the evening. The permitted level is comfortably loud enough for a great party and works well within the barn space.

Lighting can transform the atmosphere of the barn once the evening reception begins. Uplighting around the perimeter of the dance floor works particularly well at Clock Barn, and many couples also choose to add one of our large illuminated LOVE signs to enhance the look of the room.
